On February 21, 2021, beloved leader, physician, friend, and colleague, Dr. Mark A. Lambert, passed away after an extended illness. Following his passing, the scholarship arm of the Florida Podiatric Medical Association (FPMA), the Florida Podiatric Medical Society (FPMS), determined the need to establish an educational scholarship to be awarded annually in Mark’s name to a qualified Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine (BUSPM) student doctor in order to sustain Mark’s legacy.
BUSPM is the only podiatric medical school in the state of Florida and Mark traveled there multiple times in the course of his FPMA leadership to educate the next generation of student doctors. Mark saw the value of giving back to the Podiatric profession in this manner and fiercely enjoyed the process of engaging with students.
In the months after Dr. Mark Lambert's death, the Lambert family reached out regarding the scholarship in his name and folks opened their hearts and checkbooks. In our inaugural fundraising effort, collaboratively we were able to amass $2,000.00.
On April 30, 2022, that initial $2,000.00 was awarded to the first recipient of the Dr. Mark Lambert Scholarship, Student Doctor Karissa Badillo, during the annual BUSPM Commencement Ceremony. The award was enthusiastically received by Dr. Badillo with gratitude.
FPMA members have already been extremely generous with their donations to the Dr. Mark Lambert Scholarship. However, if you would like to continue Mark’s legacy through an annual memorial contribution, we welcome your support. With your assistance, this award will keep Mark’s memory alive and benefit a young student just getting started on his/her podiatric career path.
